TCS Environmental Awareness Week

Kalmar Hybrid Straddle CarrierAs part of TCS’ ISO14001 accreditation, the Company operates and adheres to strict criteria regarding the environmental impact of its operations.  This is managed through an Environment Committee.  The latest novel idea, that is this week being implemented, is an “Environmental Awareness Week” which, perhaps not surprisingly, aims to increase TCS’ employees understanding of how seemingly insignificant changes in behaviour can make a considerable impact on the Company’s overall carbon footprint.  Behaviour covered includes such items as switching lights off, not leaving computers on stand-by etc..

Steve Goldstone, one of the terminal engineers at TCS explains that, “It will not be a “Save the Planet” promotion but a demonstration that will show that by everyone doing simple things, such as turning lights off, we can save on energy costs and by doing so reduce our carbon footprint.  These simple tasks can also be carried through at home therefore saving you and your family money in the process.”
