Terminal Equipment and Services

TCS prides itself on the level and quality of service provided to its clients. As evidence of this, TCS was the first container terminal in the UK to be awarded the prestigious ISO 9002, which has subsequently been added to by the award of ISO 9001-2000, and also ISO 14001. The terminal has also achieved ISO28000, a security management system standard which has been developed specifically for logistics companies and organisations that manage supply chain operations. Finally, and most recently, TCS was certified ISO18001 compliant which covers the areas of occupational health and safety. The terminal is the first in the world to be certified with all four management systems.

Specialist activity for which TCS has gained accreditation is for the storage, and monitoring, of refrigerated containers.

TCS can provide full supporting facilities to its main function, providing one stop shopping for users of the terminal. Amongst these are:

  • TCS prepares and presents cargo for examinations and inspections undertaken by HMC, Port Health Authority, DEFRA and other statutory bodies. These operations are also included in the certificated procedures, providing even further acknowledgement of the recognition given to TCS' quality of service.
  • Uncontainerised cargo handling, and lashing. A full service for abnormal loads, and those requiring the services of riggers is available from either the terminals own labour, or from specialists located on site.
  • Ship planning. TCS provides a comprehensive ship planning service for load/discharge of ships, based on the requirements of the ship operator. Bayplans in BAPLIE format can be electronically exchanged with operating lines and terminals.

TCS places great emphasis on good security on its terminal, and boasts what is one of the most comprehensive, and modern surveillance systems available. In addition, the terminal has fully manned, 24 hour security on site
